Deborah A. Acheson was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1977 and has 25 years experience as a barrister in Victoria. While a young lawyer Deborah participated in two leading cases at the Supreme Court of Canada. During the late seventies and early eighties Deborah played an important role in entrenching the equality of women in the Canadian constitution when she served on the Western Canadian Steering committee of the National Association of Women and the Law.
Over the years Deborah has contributed to the drafting of legislation such as the Family Relations Act, the Pension Standards Act and, most recently the Class Proceedings Act. Deborah has enjoyed great success in her personal injury practice.
In December 1994 Deborah was appointed Queen's Counsel. This appointment was made on the recommendation of the Attorney General of the Province of B.C. after consultation with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and members of the Law Society of B.C. The appointment is a recognition of Deborah's contribution to the legal community of this province.

Kevin graduated from the University of Alberta law school in 1992. He immediately moved to Victoria, articled with Deborah Acheson, and was called to the British Columbia Bar. Kevin was in the computer business in Toronto for several years before going to law school and has brought a high level of computer expertise to the practice of law.
Since graduating, Kevin has worked in personal injury, product liability law and class actions. He, with Deborah, was instrumental in getting the Class Proceedings Act passed into law in British Columbia in 1995. He works primarily on class actions and individual personal injury, product liability and professional negligence actions.
Kevin is a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia and the American Trial Lawyers. He has lectured at the University of Victoria Law School and has presented at Continuing Legal Education Seminars on class actions.
Sean Sweeney Sweeney[at]achesonwhitley.com
Sean Sweeney was called the British Columbia Bar in 1992. He has 14 years experience as a trial lawyer and has argued cases at all levels of Court in British Columbia. During the first five years of practice, Mr. Sweeney developed his skills as a litigator while practicing as a Crown Prosecutor.
In 1997 he went into private practice and has practiced exclusively as a trial lawyer since. He has appeared regularly in British Columbia Supreme Court trying cases before Juries and Judges.
Mr Sweeney joined Acheson Whitley Sweeney in 2006 and practices exclusively representing injured clients.

Mitchell completed his Undergraduate Degree at Simon Fraser University where he did extensive research on the courts and court systems, mainly in respect to criminal law. He graduated from UVic Law in 2003 and completed his articles at another Victoria firm. He is currently the co-chair of the CBA Young Lawyers association, a group which engages in fundraising for various causes and also focuses on some of the issues facing young lawyers today.
Mitchell joined our firm immediately after he was called to the Bar in October of 2004 and presently practices in the area of personal injury and medical malpractice.

Natalie Foley was called to the bar in 1998. Natalie has made catastrophic injury, traumatic brain injury and medical malpractice her primary focus of personal injury law. She has counseled personal injury trials throughout the province including Victoria, Vancouver, Courtney and Prince George.
Natalie is a strong advocate for her clients when dealing with the wide reaching effects these injuries have on clients and their families.
